"Sunsets, like childhood, are viewed with wonder not just because they are beautiful but becasue they are fleeting" - Richard Paul Evans
Many people associate a sunrise with a new beginning. Sometimes it symbolizes or urges us to take action or move on from a certain situation. Other times it is sees as a sign of hope, or renewal. To me, the sun is a reminder of my purpose, every time it rises I must also. And being someone that has on many occasions suffered boats of debilitating declines in mental health, I have stared darkness right in the face many a time. Thus, to me, the sun reminds me that night doesn't last for ever, and neither do shitty moments.
If you were to ask me what my favourite colour was, whether it be now or when I was little, my answer has been and will always be yellow. If you asked me now as to why my favourite colour is yellow, I would probably give you a short generic answer, "it is a happy colour and it makes me happy". But in actuality, if you asked a younger version of myself the same question you'd get the true and honest answer, which would be something along the lines of "yellow is my favourite colour because it reminds of sunflowers, which reminds me of the sun, which reminds me of God; all things which bring me joy and happiness." And being honest even further, recently I've been extremely stressed experiencing adulthood for the first time in full force and I genuinely feel like I need a spiritual connection to this earth and that which created it, and nothing makes me feel more connected to this planet than watching it do what it does best. Which is why I think watching a sunrise sounds like the most perfect thing for me to do right about now.
I genuinely don't think I have ever experienced a sunrise in its entirety. I have either only just missed it, slept through it, or gone to bed just as it was creeping up. When I added it to my list, I added it with the intention of witnessing it from complete darkness to bright day, cause just like life, I don't want to miss a single thing of it. I want to see all its colours. I want to see the miraculous, beautiful change of dark to light with full focus. Because as simple as it may sound, one day when I have to leave this earth, I want to be able to go knowing that I never missed one of mother nature's most beautiful gifts. Now shhhh... the shows about to start.
